Do Anti Mosquito APPs Really Work?

We often see about Anti Mosquito APP on Social Media. When I checked at these apps, I found they broadcast an ultrasound between 16KHz and 20KHz. Ultrasounds can't harm people, but if they are turned on all the time, they can damage the phone's sound system a little. Many people on the internet claim that these apps work, while others say that they don't actually work.

Cover Photo
In fact, there is no evidence that these ultrasounds can actually make mosquitoes run. It has not been confirmed by any scientist, nor has it been accepted by any organization. Frequencies that humans do not hear can be heard by dogs, with cats What other animals can hear is true. This will cause an illusion to be created. Mosquitoes will also hear these low frequency ultrasounds. But that sound cannot drive away the mosquitoes. There are some comments that the mosquitoes are not running at all, but there are fewer. This is just an illusion. In reality, it totally works.

If you search for Anti Mosquito in App Store or Google Store, you will find a lot. If you are using and trying to check that it works or not, you are doing a waste of time. If you are bitten by a mosquito, instead of using the app to see if it will work, use a mosquito net or light a mosquito net. That will really benefit you.

Why do birds fly from the tree during earthquake ? Is it possible animals felt an earthquake in advance ?

Birds flying about near the earthquake, creatures that come out of the pit. Did they really know earthquakes in advance? Why ? Is this possible? People think that some animals can predict earthquakes. Before explaining this, you need to know when earthquakes happen and what is an earthquake? This article is based on Quora's Why do birds fly from the tree during earthquake ? I read the question so wrote this article.

MASES - Myanmar Astronomy & Science Enthusiasts Society's post is also based on this post.

What is an earthquake and how does it happen?

Earthquake is the vibration of the earth's surface when two earth's crusts collide. The earth's surface is composed of four layers called inner core, outer core, mantle, and crust. The two outermost layers are the crust and the mantle.

In these two layer, the earth's solid (called Tectonic Plates) are included in various parts. These tectonic plates are always moving and bumping into each other, one intruding one on top of the other, and so on. When two moving tectonic plates collide, they cannot move forward. But even if they stop, the kinetic energy that causes the Earth's tectonic plates to move won't stop. As the energy slowly accumulates near the point of collision, it becomes a huge wave from the push. Just like the waves when something falls into water, the energy accumulates at the point of collision and these huge waves can shake everything up, causing the Tectonic Plates to shake and vibrate. That is called an earthquake.

Why do birds fly before an earthquake ?

Birds before earthquake

The waves that are kicked around from the accumulation of energy are called seismic waves. When those waves come out of the earth's underground, the small-sized waves are far away and cannot cause damage to things on the earth's surface. The P-Wave, the fastest wave arrived first onto the earth's surface. Some animals, such as birds, may feel this P P-Wave and respond by rising and flying. But this is not yet accepted by scientists and is only the most likely conclusion. Therefore, it cannot be said that it is true that the animals felt the earthquake.

So no one can predict the earthquake?

It is true that earthquakes cannot be accurately predicted to this day. But when other things happen, the possibility of an earthquake is calculated and the result was published.

For example, a volcanic eruption. There is a connection between volcanic eruptions and earthquakes. When a volcano erupts, its vibration causes earthquakes, and when earthquakes occur, it is usually a volcanic eruption. Small earthquakes can also be precursors to a large earthquake. Small vibrations occur when tectonic plates move and collide. Soon kinetic energy will accumulate and it is predicted that it will become a major earthquake. However, since the place where the earthquake occurred is in the far interior, it is possible that when it reaches the surface of the earth, it will weaken and become a small earthquake.

Safety Tips

In addition, when earthquakes occur around fault lines, experts who monitor these areas measure the backs of the faults and calculate the probability of another earthquake and publish them. Earthquakes are unpredictable, but when they do happen, you should make preparations and read and remember emergency actions, safety tips. Only then can danger to life be avoided.

If you are interesting Physic (for Space, Time and other theories) or want to study it, you have to know about Light & Matter. It is a fundamental parts of Physics. Do you know why scientists can say the size of the earth or any star/planet ? They can not measure the actual size of these stars. So Why did he say the size, temperature, weather or somethings else of these object/matter ? Because of Light. Yes the biggest answer is Light. Scientists can calculate the size (or something) by using the light reflected from these object/matter. Light can carry the details of any object.

So Light is amazing, isn't right? So What is Light and how it work ?

Light is electromagnetic radiation and is a part of the electromagnetic spectrum. If you want to read about light, read this article I wrote.

Matter for Beginner

Matter explanation

Today, I want to explain what is matter and about its structure. Basically, every object/things are made up of matter. The air, water, even our bodies. The sun, earth, moon and any stars are made up of matter. All matter is made up of tiny particles called atoms. There are electrons, protons and neutrons in an atom. According the structure, quantity, mass and size, matters can be different each other. Every substance has many types of molecules depending on the structure of its molecules, but there are only more than 100 types of elements that make up molecules. Nitrogen, Hydrogen, Carbon, Oxygen, Iron, Gold, Silver, etc... You can study these elements in this table called Periodic Table .

Now you know all matter can be different size, shape or color according the structure of its atoms. There are also different states and properties.

Solid, Liquid and Gas, its properties are are Melting, Freezing, Sublimation, Vaporization, Condensation and Deposition.

Basically, matter is so simple to understand. Because this explanation is inspired the articles for kids or beginner. It is not easy actually. If you want to read some articles for kids/beginners, You can read here.

Now time to read about matter more specifically (Scientific View)

Matter is any substance that has mass and takes up space by having volume. All everyday objects that can be touched are ultimately composed of atoms, which are made up of interacting subatomic particles, and in everyday as well as scientific usage, "matter" generally includes atoms and anything made up of them, and any particles (or combination of particles) that act as if they have both rest mass and volume. Wiki

More fundamentally, matter is composed of elementary particles called quarks and leptons, both of which are considered elementary particles in that they aren't made up of smaller units of matter. Quarks -- groups of subatomic particles that interact by means of a strong force -- combine into protons and neutrons. Leptons -- groups of subatomic particles that respond to weaker forces -- belong to a class of elementary particles that includes electrons. TECHTARGET

An atom is the smallest unit of ordinary matter that forms a chemical element. Every solid, liquid, gas, and plasma is composed of neutral or ionized atoms. Atoms are extremely small, typically around 100 picometers across. They are so small that accurately predicting their behavior using classical physics, as if they were tennis balls for example, is not possible due to quantum effects. Wiki - Atom

Elements have their own properties. The properties of a molecule are different from those of the elements that make it up. For example, the properties of water H2O are different from hydrogen and oxygen. If we classify at the materials in detail, we know that they are made up of atoms, so there are more than 100 types of elements, so there are more than 100 types of atoms. Atoms consist of three types of particles: protons, neutrons, and electrons. According to the number of protons in an atom, the elements are divided. If there is one proton, hydrogen. If there are two, helium. For Oxygen, 8 and so on.

Atoms and/or molecules in two or more elements can join together to form a compound. This compound, which is the basis of matter, may not resemble any of the original ingredients. For example, sodium and chlorine, two highly poisonous elements that are unstable at room temperatures, combine to form one of the most common and harmless compounds known to man called common salt (sodium chloride, or NaCl). Unlike its constituent elements, salt is highly stable, harmless to humans and even edible.

The Structure of Atom
Protons and neutrons are concentrated in the nucleus, which is extremely small even compared to an atom. Outside of the nucleus, electrons spin like a cloud. In an atom, the nucleus is small and compact, the electron cloud is quite large, but the mass of the whole atom is in the nucleus because the mass of the electrons is too small.

States of matter
I explained state of matter can be different into various form such as solid, liquid and gas according to their atoms' structure. It is more than that, it has another states such as plasma, Bose-Einstein Condensate. So it have their properties above I explained such as melting, freezing, etc...

Energy of matter or Conversion of matter into energy
Energy Level

For further study, we need to know that atoms have different energy levels. Energy levels are not the same as different types of atoms, and the gap between each level is different. Energy level refers to the amount of energy of electrons. The electrons of every atom have levels 1 2 3 and so on up to the ionization level.

In some situations, matter is converted into energy by atomic reactions, also known as nuclear reactions.

Albert Einstein as his theory of relativity:

E = mc2

E is the energy in joules; m is the mass in kilograms; and c is the speed of light, which is approximately 2.99792 x 108 meters per second in a vacuum.

Now, I think you well understand what is matter and its structure in details. I will suggest you to read below articles to read more about matter. And then read further the articles about how to detect the size or something of matter using its reflected light. It is very interesting for beginners and it is very important to know before you study of Physics.

Do you know color is not really exist? Color is the visual perceptual property deriving from the spectrum of light interacting with the photoreceptor cells of the eyes. Color categories and physical specifications of color are associated with objects or materials based on their physical properties such as light absorption, reflection, or emission spectra. By defining a color space, colors can be identified numerically by their coordinates.

So What is Light ?

What is Light ?
Light is electromagnetic radiation and is a part of the electromagnetic spectrum. So we have to know about electromagnetic radiation before we talk about the light.

Then, what is Electromagnetic Radiation ?

According to an article of Khan Academy, electromagnetic radiation is one of the many ways that energy travels through space. The heat from a burning fire, the light from the sun, the X-rays used by your doctor, as well as the energy used to cook food in a microwave are all forms of electromagnetic radiation. While these forms of energy might seem quite different from one another, they are related in that they all exhibit wavelike properties.

These article is so simple and easily to understand about electromagnetic radiation. If you want to read full article, you can read here.

Now what is the electromagnetic spectrum ?

electromagnetic spectrum

The electromagnetic spectrum is the range of frequencies (the spectrum) of electromagnetic radiation and their respective wavelengths and photon energies. The electromagnetic spectrum covers electromagnetic waves with frequencies ranging from below one hertz to above 1025 hertz, corresponding to wavelengths from thousands of kilometers down to a fraction of the size of an atomic nucleus. Did you know electromagnetic waves ? I want to explain it with an example. Did you see the waves at the beach or if you dive into the swimming pool ? Yes, they are very similar. It had frequency and wavelength.

Electromagnetic waves one of the waves that are propagated by simultaneous periodic variations of electric and magnetic field intensity and it can be divided into 7 types according to its' frequency range.

radio waves, microwaves, infrared, visible light, ultraviolet, X-rays, and gamma rays.

Radio Waves are the lowest frequency and longest wavelength, and then gamma rays are the highest frequency and shortest wavelength.

Visible Light that You called Light

Visible Light

Did you see visible light in the 7 kinds of electromagnetic waves ? Yes, so light is a kind of electromagnetic waves. The wavelength of (visible) light is between 400 and 700 nanometers. It is between infrared and ultraviolet. In terms of frequency, it is between 430 and 750 hz. So the electromagnetic waves between 400 and 700 nanometers are called light. The other electromagnetic waves can not be seen with our eye and we use these waves in other field such as X-rays, gamma rays in medical field, radio waves in ICT field, etc... But ultraviolet light can make the cancer for our skin.

Types of ER

Light has also another properties Frequency, Wavelength else such as Intensity, Direction and Polatization. Like all forms of light (all electromagnetic waves), visible light emits tiny packets called photons and carries both wave and particle properties. This property is called wave-particle coupling. The study of light is an important area of research in modern physics.
